NY pulls STAR benefits from tax delinquents; crackdown inspired by syracuse.com story

The New York state tax department denied STAR property tax breaks this year to more than 10,000 homeowners who didn’t pay their property taxes.

That’s the impact of a new law prompted by an investigation last year by The Post-Standard | syracuse.com. The law blocked $5.35 million in tax breaks that would have gone to people who were tax delinquent, according to the state tax department.
